Matlock Bath Illuminations is a fun-packed event featuring a spectacular parade of illuminated and decorated boats along the River Derwent followed by a firework display. We'll be photographing the parade and the fireworks, exploring the best camera settings for capturing lights by night.

In this class we will be photographing the sunset, provided we have one! Sunsets are beautiful, I think we can all agree, but they are also notoriously difficult to capture. So in this class we will be looking at a few different techniques of how to capture those sunsets so you never have to load up your sunset photos and feel disapointed ever again.

We'll be looking at a few different techniques such as HDR, Timelapsing, exposing for the highlights, and silhouetting.

The focus of this two-hour structured session is "speed" and "form", i.e. capturing the essence of a subject. You will be guided to complete some "warm-up" colour and drawing exercises and prepared for doing ink and watercolour-based painting in the session. You will learn how to quickly sketch and capture multiple subjects in the garden with ink and wash technique. You will be advised to keep things rather loose and time your drawing/painting.
